The 7-Paperholic Exhibition, part of the 6th Artists in the Neighbourhood Scheme, was held at the Oil Street Art Space in Hong Kong from April 22 to July 24, 2016. The exhibition, curated by the Hong Kong Open Printshop, featured a collection of artwork created using paper as the primary medium. The interior design of the exhibition was conceptualized and executed by SOMETHINK in 2016.
The design concept drew inspiration from the vibrant daily life in North Point, Hong Kong. The unique characteristics of paper, such as transparency and reflection, were incorporated to create an immersive and engaging interior space. The result was a visually captivating experience for exhibition visitors. One notable design feature was the use of a pixelated image effect. To view the artwork, visitors had to walk behind a wall, where the pixelated image gradually revealed itself. The degree of pixelation varied based on the shadows created by the projector light, adding an element of intrigue and surprise. The interior design of the 7-Paperholic Exhibition successfully merged the concept of paper's characteristics with the exhibition space. It offered visitors an interactive and evolving visual experience, inviting them to explore the artwork from a unique perspective. The collaboration between the Hong Kong Open Printshop and SOMETHINK@2016 resulted in a memorable and thought-provoking exhibition that celebrated the versatility and creative potential of paper as an artistic medium.
